The short form, “blog”, was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog in April or May 1999.Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used “blog” as both a noun and verb (“to blog”, meaning “to edit one’s weblog or to post to one’s weblog”) and devised the term “blogger” in connection with Pyra Labs’ Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms.

In the past, people were using blogs as online diaries. While others used them as platforms for writing journals about themselves.

With the passage of time, more and more platforms were created. Thus this resulted in more people becoming bloggers. For example, was launched in 1999.

Later on, Google bought it in February 2003. It is one of the best free popular blogging platforms available today. Then WordPress was released two months later. However, there was just a handful of bloggers by then.

Today, there are more than 570 million blogs on the internet globally. The number of bloggers in the USA alone is projected to reach 31.7 million by 2020.

Give your readers assurance.

Now it’s time to assure your readers their problem will be sorted out in a matter of minutes. Use phrases such as:

  • I will show you how to do it.
  • It’s easier and faster than you think.

Encourage your readers to continue reading by using phrases such as “Follow these actionable tips…” or “Read on to learn how to…”

  • SEMRush:  It is a paid tool. It helps you to spy on your competitors and steal their best ideas.

Your headings must be appealing.

Your post title is extremely crucial for the success of your article. The title must be appealing to your readers’ hearts. If you have challenges in this regard, do not worry you can find efficient tools to check whether the title is awesome or not.

The best tools I recommend for checking the effectiveness of headings are :

Write Subheadings.

Do not write your first post without subheadings. It should, however, have only one (main) HEADING. Write your post in a way that will have several subheadings. Headings make it easier for readers to navigate your blog posts faster.

Write short paragraphs.

Make sure that you write shorter paragraphs to help your readers locate the content that they are looking for faster. Break up each paragraph after a few lines. Long paragraphs are not needed.

Make use of bullet points.

Important information should be highlighted using bullet points. Bullet lists are great because they are very easy to navigate.

Employ images in your post.
